In this guide

A popup is a small box that opens over your website — an offer with a coupon code, a festival message, or a nudge towards a page. You make it in the website editor, under Site Settings → Popups, and it reaches your live website a minute after you save it.

Make a popup

1

Open Popups

Open the website editor, then Site Settings and the Popups card. On a phone, the same card is in the editor's settings sheet.

2

Add a popup

Tap Add a popup. Each popup has its own on / off switch, so you can keep a festival popup ready and switch it on only for the festival.

3

Choose when it appears

Pick one of four moments (see below), and how many days before the same visitor sees it again.

4

Fill what is inside

A heading, a short message, a picture if you like, a coupon code, and a button with its link. Pick the background, text and button colours.

5

Save popups

Tap Save popups. Popups do not wait for Update Website — they reach your live website on their own in about a minute.

When it appears

  • A few seconds after the page opens — you choose the seconds (0 to 120; 3 is the default).
  • After the visitor scrolls down — you choose how far down the page, in percent (50 is the default).
  • When the visitor is about to leave — when the mouse moves off the top of the window. This works on computers only; a visitor on a phone never sees this one.
  • When a button with matching text is clicked — type the exact words on a button or link of your page, like Get My Offer. Clicking it opens the popup instead.

Show again after (days) decides how often one visitor sees it: 1 means once a day, 7 once a week, 0 on every visit. It is remembered on the visitor's own phone or computer, so a visitor on a new device sees it again.

What goes inside

  • Heading and message — keep the message to one line, like “Flat 10% off your first order”.
  • Picture (optional) — upload one; it shows at the top of the popup.
  • Coupon code (optional) — shown as a chip; the visitor taps it to copy the code. Make the coupon itself on your Coupons screen first, so the code works at checkout.
  • Button — its words and its link: a page of your website (/shop), a full web address (https://…), a phone link (tel:) or an e-mail link (mailto:).
  • Colours — background, text and button.

See it on your website

The editor's preview does not show popups. Open your live website in a new tab (or a private window, so the “show again after” days do not hide it from you) a minute after saving.

Up to five switched-on popups can be on your website, and a visitor sees one at a time — a second popup never opens over the first.

Common questions

Can I make a popup from the chat? No — popups are made here, in Site Settings → Popups. The chat can tell you where they are.

I saved it but I don't see it. Check its switch is on, wait a minute, and open the website in a private window — your own browser may have seen it already today.

How do I stop a popup? Turn its switch off and save, or delete it. The website stops showing it within a minute.
