Pharmacy websites — a pharmacist checks every prescription first
For licensed medical stores: medicines marked by prescription, a pharmacist's check before an order is sent, stock by batch and expiry, and a private page where customers send their prescription.

Who it is for
A chemist or medical store that holds a drug licence and has a registered pharmacist. If you sell only vitamins, wellness or personal-care products and never a prescription medicine, an ordinary online store suits you better.
Set it up
Record your licence
Open Pharmacy Desk from your sidebar → Details. Enter your drug licence number, your pharmacist’s name and registration number, then switch prescription orders on. Until all three are in, prescription medicines show “contact us” instead of a Buy button, and your licence details appear in your website’s footer once they are in.
Say what each product is
Pharmacy Desk → Products: for each product, choose medicine, wellness or device, whether it needs a prescription, what it contains, the pack (for example a strip of 15 tablets) and the maker. A product nobody has classified cannot be ordered — the website shows it without a Buy button. The sample products a new website starts with are already classified.
Receive your stock by batch
Pharmacy Desk → Stock: add each delivery with its batch number, expiry date, number of packs, MRP and supplier. The first batch you add for a product replaces the count you typed earlier; every later batch adds to it. You can hold a batch, recall it, or correct a mistake.
Keep pay on delivery on
A prescription order is paid on delivery — nobody pays before your pharmacist has approved the prescription. If pay on delivery is switched off, prescription orders cannot be placed and your website says so.
What happens when a customer orders a prescription medicine
- The customer places the order as on any store. It is received, not confirmed: their WhatsApp message says the pharmacist will check the prescription first, with a link to send it.
- The link opens a private page in your shop’s name. The customer signs in with a one-time code, adds photos or a PDF of the prescription, picks the order it is for, and sends it.
- Your phone gets a notification saying how many prescriptions are waiting — never the medicine or the customer.
- On the Pharmacy Desk → To do, open the prescription. For each medicine, record what it allows (how many tablets, until when), or ask for a clearer photo, or refuse it with a reason.
- The customer is told on WhatsApp: approved, partly approved, refused, or that you need a clearer photo.
- Once approved, hand over the medicines from your batches (the oldest expiry goes first), then pack and ship the order as usual.
A prescription order cannot be packed, shipped, booked with a courier or given to a delivery person until it is approved and handed over. That is on purpose — it is the same rule in every place an order can leave your shop.
A customer can also bring or send a paper prescription to the counter: open the order on the Pharmacy Desk and record what the prescription allows there. A later order of the same customer can use a prescription already on file while it is still valid — your pharmacist still approves each order.
Your customers’ privacy
- Prescription photos and what your pharmacist reads on them are stored encrypted, and open only on your dashboard — never on your shop’s own website address.
- Someone who only knows a customer’s phone number sees on Track Order how many items an order has, never which medicines.
- Your ad tags (Meta, Google and the others in your settings) load only on your home, About, Contact and checkout pages, and the sales they report carry the amount, never a medicine’s name.
- Your products are not sent to Google Shopping or Instagram — both restrict medicines.
Not available yet
Doctor consultations and lab tests are not offered yet, so your website does not show them. The Pharmacy Desk is used by you, the owner — your team cannot open it yet. Refill reminders and family members on one account will come later.
What it costs
There is no extra fee for being a pharmacy: the same plans and fees as any online store apply. Your Plan page shows the exact figures.
Questions
Can a customer pay online for a prescription medicine?
Not before your pharmacist approves the prescription. Prescription orders are paid on delivery.
What if the prescription covers only some of the medicines?
The order is partly approved and the customer is told the shop will contact them. Remove the medicines that were not approved from the order, then hand over and ship it.
Can my staff approve prescriptions?
Not yet — the Pharmacy Desk is the owner’s for now.
Where do customers find the page to send a prescription?
The Upload prescription links in your website’s header, the phone bottom bar and every prescription medicine’s page, the screen they see after ordering, and the WhatsApp message they receive.
