The section list
Open a page in the editor. Left of the preview, under the page name, Sections on this page is one ordered list (on a phone: the Edit Page sheet's Sections & layout tab):
Design sections
Your design's own parts. Each row shows a small picture of what it is, an eye to hide it and a ⋯ menu (move, style, Ask); tap the row and its card opens on the right. A section that sits inside another one on your live website is listed right under it, marked “Moves with …”, and has no arrows of its own — it moves when that section moves.
Blocks you added
Tagged Added, shown exactly where they render — above the design, between two sections, or at the bottom. Tap one to edit it; hide, move, duplicate, copy or save it from its ⋯ menu.
Where should it go?
Press Add section and a short list names every spot a block can go: Top of the page, After <section>, Bottom of the page. Pick one and the picker opens aimed at that spot. In the preview, hovering between two sections shows a + Add section here pill for the same thing.
One page at a time
The page button at the top of the left side (Editing page · Home, with a Change button) opens the page list — pick another page and its sections take the list's place. Under the sections sit your header, footer and bars, and Only what I changed filters the list to the rows you touched.
On this page
The strip at the very top: this page's Header and Footer — Site default, or Hide on this page. (With the page outline on, the same choice is on the Header and Footer cards — tap Header or Footer in the section list — as Hide the header on this page.) A page left with no header or footer says so in an amber line under it (“This page will have no menu bar — customers can't reach your other pages from it.”); on your home page, hiding them asks once first.
The same list exists on every classic page — Home, About, Contact, Shop, your custom pages. Money and account pages (Checkout, Account, Track order, Wishlist) are fixed by design so buying always works.
A red “This block hit a problem” card in the preview means one block could not be drawn — usually a field that received the wrong kind of value. The rest of the page is fine, and on your live website that block is simply left out until it is fixed. Open the block, reset the field you last changed (or delete the block), then Update Website.
Header & footer as blocks (Blank canvas designs). In Site Settings → Header (or Footer), the choice A header you build / A footer you build turns your design's own header or footer into an editable block — it starts looking exactly the same, then you can change its Look — twelve header looks (classic, editorial, bold split, utility, soft, search first, mega menu, minimal, centred split, overlay, compact app, two rows) and ten footer looks (classic, editorial, utility, mega, minimal, newsletter, visit, trust, social, call to action) — plus options on the newer looks (header: background, height, content width, link style, sticky, logo and button on phones; footer: background, the thin colour line, the email sign-up box whose sign-ups land in your Form Inbox, the payment-options line), its menu links, button and store icons, and choose where it shows (Whole site · Only these pages · Every page except…). Switching it Off brings the design's own header back and keeps your block saved. Like every edit, it goes live with Update Website.
Announcement bar and phone bottom bar. The same list offers Add an announcement bar — a slim strip above the header for an offer, a notice or opening hours (its text, link and colour are yours; leave the text empty and it shows the Announcement Bar Text from Site Settings) — and Add a phone bottom bar: an app-style bar at the bottom of phone screens with Home, Shop, Cart, WhatsApp and Account on stores (Home, your menu pages, WhatsApp and Contact on other websites). Both can be switched off or limited to certain pages exactly like the header; the bottom bar hides the floating WhatsApp button on phones because it carries the chat itself.
Nine everyday blocks. The Add-section list now carries the basics every page needs: Image (one photo — size, crop, corners, caption, link), Spacer (empty space with a height per device), Buttons (a row of buttons — WhatsApp and Call use your site number automatically), Columns (2–4 side-by-side columns with a photo or icon, heading, text and button; equal or 2:1 widths), Latest blog posts (your newest published posts, pulled in automatically — nothing shows until you publish a post), Book an appointment (the same step-by-step booking form as your Book page, on any page), Newsletter sign-up (sign-ups land in your Form Inbox), Image carousel (a swipeable photo strip) and Video (a YouTube link that loads only when tapped, or your own upload).
Where a block can go
Press Add section and answer “Where should it go?”
The button at the top of the section list opens a short list — Top, After each section by name, Bottom. Pick one and the block picker opens with that spot written in its header (“Adding right after your Flash Deals section”).
…or tap a + pill
The dashed pills in the list are the same thing with one tap fewer. On a computer, moving the mouse between two sections in the preview also shows a + Add section here pill on the line between them.
Pick the block
Search by name or browse the groups below. The first group is named after your trade — ✨ Made for your salon, Made for your clinic (Popular starters where the website has no trade of its own) — and those cards are pre-filled with that trade's copy: a salon gets Bridal Packages, a clinic gets OPD timings. My blocks holds sections you saved from other pages. Every block arrives with sample photos and text so it looks finished on the preview at once — replace the samples with your own.

Layout
Divider · Timeline · Spacer-style bands — plus every block's own width, space and background controls (below).
Ten blocks with two looks: Poster or Editorial
Ten blocks carry a Look choice at the top of their settings: Headline hero (one big headline with a sample report card, a photo collage or one photo beside it), Service list (services or menu items as a bold index — name, one line, price, a small photo), Text ticker (a band of big words drifting sideways; it pauses under the pointer), Timeline steps (dated steps across or down the page), Results reel (a sideways reel of tall photo cards, each with one big number, ending in an invitation card), Photo tiles (tall or square photo tiles with a name and a short line), Feature quote (one customer's words in their own language, with an optional translation and portrait), Rate card (up to four plans side by side; mark the one most people choose), Question list (questions that open in place, the heading beside them on computers) and Closing call (one giant line, two buttons — WhatsApp uses your business number — and a row of small facts with the current India time).
On a computer the Results reel gets arrow buttons beside its small hint line, and the cards can also be pulled sideways with the mouse — visitors on a phone keep swiping, and the page itself always scrolls normally under the wheel. The arrows appear only when there is more to see, so a short reel shows none.
Poster is tall bold capitals, square corners and marker highlights; Editorial is a light serif with italics, arch-topped photos and thin lines. Pick the one that matches the rest of your site. In any heading, put *stars* around a word to highlight it — a marker stripe (or an outline) in Poster, italics with an underline in Editorial. On a dark background, set Heading colour to Highlight colour. The Signboard Agency and Neel Studio designs are built entirely from these blocks.
Can't find a block? Type any word in the picker's search — it matches names and descriptions (“coupon” finds Offers board, “bridal” finds the salon recipe). Still nothing? The picker offers Browse page designs for a whole ready-made page.
Travel sites: the Trip search and Inventory rail blocks
On a travel website (the Travel — Blank canvas design) the library gains a Travel group with two blocks. Trip search is the booking search hero — buses, stays, packages and cabs (plus flight/train enquiry) as tabs, with a heading, a background photo and three trust lines; it lands edge-to-edge and searches your live inventory exactly like the Stays or Buses pages. Inventory rail shows a sideways-scrolling row of your stays, bus routes, packages or cab routes straight from Dashboard → Travel Desk — pick what to show and how many. Nothing is printed on the live site until that inventory exists.
News sites: the Newsroom stories and Web Stories blocks
On a news website (the News — Blank canvas design) the library gains a News group with a Newsroom storiesblock — a band of your published stories on any page you build. Pick how it looks (a picture grid, a compact headline list, or one lead story with headlines under it), optionally show a single section’s desk, and set how many stories appear. It always shows your real published stories from the News Desk — nothing shows on the live site until you publish your first story, and the band updates every time you press Update Website.
The same News group also has a Web Stories block — your live web storiesas a row of story circles (like WhatsApp status), portrait cards or big cards. Readers tap one to watch it full screen. You can add it to any page of any news design — at the top, between two sections or at the bottom — and limit it to one section’s stories. It shows nothing until you publish your first web story.
Ready-made sections, Flip Cards and text typography
The Add Section window starts with ready-made sections — complete blocks like Get a Call Back, Simple Price Plans, Guarantee Strip, Offer Countdown and How It Works, already filled with sensible copy. Place one, then simply change the words to yours. Two blocks worth knowing: Flip Cards — tiles that turn over on hover or tap to reveal the fuller story — and the Rich Contentblock’s Typography group, where you control the text size (including an exact pixel size), line spacing, letter spacing and weight of any text section.
The Banner Slider, in depth
The block behind “I want a slider like the Pulse design”. It shows one banner at a time, edge to edge, with swipe, dots, arrows and auto-play — on every design.

Get it on the page
Home page: press 🖼 Use my own banner slider as the hero in the section list — it hides the design's hero and adds the slider on top, already Full width with square corners. Any other spot: Add section → Banner Slider. New sliders are edge to edge automatically.
Slides
Each slide has Banner photo (computer / wide) — 1600×600 is a good size — and an optional Phone version (1080×1080 or 1080×1350). Phones show the phone version instead of squeezing the wide banner into a thin strip. Optional text over the photo: eyebrow, heading, text, alignment, one or two buttons. Make whole slide clickable turns the entire banner into a link.
A video on a slide (optional)
Every slide has Video for this slide. Upload a short clip and it plays silently over that slide's banner photo. Keep the photo: it is what visitors see first, and the video fades in over it only after the page has finished loading — so a video slide never slows your first screen. Stay on this slide until the video finishes (on by default) makes the slider wait for the clip to end before moving on; turn it off and the clip loops while the slider keeps its usual timing. 6 to 12 seconds works best. Visitors who have switched on “reduce motion” or data saving on their phone see the photo only.
How the slider shows
My slides are ready-made banners — ON when the headline and price are already designed into the image: each banner shows whole, no crop, no dark wash. Banner size: Follow the photo (the slider is exactly as tall as the banner showing — never an empty band; if your banners are different sizes the height changes as they rotate) or Fixed height (uses the Height below and crops the edges — pick this when banners of different sizes must look uniform). Height (Short · Medium · Tall · Full screen · Custom) applies to photo mode and fixed-height mode; each slide also has Photo focus (which part stays visible when cropped) and Text position (top / middle / bottom). The 📱 On phones group sets the phone version separately — height, photo focus, text position, alignment and size, whether the text line shows, and whether arrows and dots show (phones can swipe). 📟 On tablets sets the tablet height and whether arrows/dots show there. Leave any of them on “Same as computer” to inherit. Every slide has a Show text & button switch for photo-only slides; ⬅➡ Arrows & dots sets the arrow style, size and position (edges or a corner pair) and the dot style (dots · lines · numbers) and position (on the photo, or below it); 🔤 Text & button look adds a box behind the text (frosted glass, dark, white, outline), a soft text shadow, the button style (pill · square · outline · link) and size, plus the text column width and size. Slide change effect: Fade, Slide or Slow zoom. Auto-advance seconds (0 stops it). Arrows and dots on or off.
Text readability (photo mode)
With ready-made banners OFF, a dark wash sits over the photo so your typed heading stays readable — tint it with a brand colour, or set its darkness. Colors lets you change the slide text and button colours.
📱 On phones
Layout on phones — Text over the photo (default) writes the heading on top of the picture; Photo on top, text below shows the whole phone banner first and puts the heading, text and buttons on a colour panel under it (the panel uses the “Colour behind the slides”), so nothing covers your picture. Best with a 4:3 or square phone version. Text size on phones has Smaller / Larger and a Custom choice that reveals exact heading and text sizes in pixels; Text size above does the same for computers. Text position / alignment on phones, and the hide switches (small label, text line, button, or everything) finish the phone set — computers keep their own settings.
Placeholder slides that still say “Your headline here” will show on your live site if you publish them. Upload real banners, or delete the extra slides, before pressing Update Website. No banner photos yet? The image box's Free photos tab has real Indian business photos — pick a Wide one for the computer slide and a Tall one for the phone version.
Speed: the first banner is loaded first and fast (it is the biggest thing on the screen); the rest load quietly behind it. Phones download only the phone version. That is why a slider here does not slow your site the way a plug-in slider does elsewhere.
The quick bar — width, space, devices
Open any block you added. The bar at the top of its card:
Width
Default (the page's usual column) · Narrow (a 960px reading column) · Wide · Full (edge to edge). A full-width block that sits first or last on a page also flushes against the header or footer. Phone width and side space live on the Layout tab.
Space
Default · None · Compact · Normal · Spacious · Extra roomy — applied above and below at once. Exact pixels and separate phone / tablet values live on the Layout tab.
Show on
Phone · tablet · computer. A crossed icon = hidden on that device (it stays saved). Use it for a heavy desktop-only comparison table, or a phone-only app-download strip. In the editor the block keeps a small label — “Hidden on phones” — and fades when you switch the preview to that device, so you can still find it and edit it.
Your design's own sections have a ⚙ style pop-up on their row instead of the quick bar — see the next section. Width stays part of the design.
Styling your design's own sections
Every design section in the list has a ⚙ style pop-up: its ⋯ menu → Space & colours…, or the ⚙ in the bar on the selected section in the preview. It opens a popover with the controls owners asked for on the built-in parts of a design:
Space above / below
None → Extra roomy. Tighten a hero that sits too far from the header, or give a testimonials band more breathing room.
Alignment
Left · Center · Right for that section's headings and text — without touching the design's layout.
Background & text colour
Pick any colour for the band behind that section, and a text colour for the words that sit on it — headings, paragraphs, text links such as “View all”, and outline buttons with their borders. Cards, badges and filled buttons keep their own readable colours, so light text never lands on a white card; a band that fills the whole section counts as the section, so its words follow your text colour. Clear returns to the design's own.
Buttons
Where a section has its own filled buttons (Shop now, Subscribe, Book), a Buttons colour appears: the buttons take it and their words turn dark or white by themselves so they stay readable. Buttons inside product cards keep the design's colours. A section with no such button shows no Buttons row.
Button style
On blocks with a button, a Button style choice sits right under the accent colour: Solid fills the button with one flat colour (your picked colour, else your brand colour), and Gradient of my colour blends only the colour you chose — no other colour mixes in.
Show on
Phone · tablet · computer. Hide a section on one device only — it stays saved and shows on the others.
A blue dot on the ⚙ means the section carries a style; Reset inside the popover removes it. The eye icon still hides the whole section everywhere. Nothing changes on your live site until you press Update Website.
The Look and Layout tabs — every option a block shares
Beside Content, every block's card has two more tabs that every block shares (and Advanced for custom CSS and the jump link); the All layout, background & motion options link under the quick bar lands there too:
📐 Layout — width, spacing & visibility
Side space (left & right) is the gap between a block's edge and what is inside it — Default keeps the design's own, None lets photos and cards touch the block's edge, Small / Medium / Large set it explicitly. On phones the whole site now uses a smaller side gap automatically (about 22px from the screen edge for contained blocks, 16px inside full-width bands), and every block also takes its own Width — phones (Full width edge to edge, or Contained) and Side space — phones under 📱 Phones & tablets — so a colour band can run edge to edge on phones while it stays a contained card on computers.
Section width with a Custom slider (480–1400px). Space above / below with presets or exact pixels, and separate phones only / tablets only values. Show this section (the same as the eye icon), Hide on phones / tablets / desktop. Jump link name: type “offers” and any menu item or button linking to #go-offers scrolls straight to this block.
🎨 Look — background, corners & motion
Background photo with a focus point and a light / dark / custom tint; or a gradient — brand colours, soft tint, dark fade, or your own two colours and direction. Corner style (square → extra round, or exact). Card frame: soft shadow, thin border, both, or custom thickness / colour / shadow strength. Entrance animation (fade up, fade in, slide in, zoom). Cards appear one by one — the items inside the block (cards, tiles, photos) fade in one after another as visitors scroll to it. Stick to top while scrolling (computers). Background scroll effect (parallax, computers). Card hover effect (lift or glow).
✨ Pattern & shaped edge
Background pattern draws a quiet texture behind a block's content — dots, a fine grid, diagonal lines, corner rings, or a soft glow in your brand colours. It follows the block's own text colour, so it works on light and dark backgrounds. Keep Pattern strength on Soft for most blocks, and use Where the pattern shows to fade it into the top, one corner or the two sides — calmer than covering the whole block.
Shaped edge ends a block in a wave, a curve, a slant or a small arrow instead of a straight line. It is drawn in the block's own background colour, so give the block a background colour first (it looks best on a block that runs the full width). Choose the bottom edge, the top, or both, and a shallow / medium / deep shape; phones always get a shallow one. The shape adds its own space, so it never covers the block below.
🎨 Illustrated blocks
Five blocks draw from a library of 356 illustrations that wear your brand colour by themselves: an Illustrated banner, Illustrated features (every card with its own drawing), Illustrated steps, Drawing & text (a drawing beside a heading, a paragraph and points) and an Illustrated invitation. Each drawing field opens a searchable picker — type a word (booking, chef, delivery, doctor, teacher, wedding…) and tap one. Pages without photos look designed with them; pages with photos get a second, lighter visual language.
↔ Text alignment + heading line
Text alignment (in Width, spacing & visibility) lines up the block's headings and text left, centre or right. Galleries, FAQs, team, pricing, testimonials, stats and timelines also take a small line under the heading and their own heading alignment.
Every control starts at Default, which means “leave the design as it is” — your published page changes only when you pick something. Turn something on, look at the preview, and press Undo if you don't like it.
Move, hide, copy, reuse
Move
Design sections: ▲▼ on their row (most designs allow it; ↺ Restore the design's original order appears once you've rearranged). Added blocks: Up / Down in the block's toolbar, or drag the dots on its left edge on a computer.
Hide instead of delete
The eye on any row. Hidden sections stay saved and disappear from the site; the row dims so you can find them again. Only added blocks can be deleted (the bin asks first).
Blocks you added after a design section stay on the page when you hide that section: your live website shows them right after the nearest section above it that is still showing (or at the bottom of the page when none is), and the preview puts them in the same place. A note above them in the preview says where they now show and why — for example On your live website these blocks show right after “Hero” — “Trust strip” is hidden on this page. The page outline lists them in that same place, with the same note: under “Hero”, above the blocks you added after “Hero” itself — the order your visitors see. The hidden section keeps its + pill; a block you add there joins them.
Copy and save
Copy duplicates a block right below itself. Save names it into My blocks, available in the picker on every page of this site — build an offer strip once, drop it on five pages. Only you or a Manager can save blocks and add saved ones; a team member who edits the website sees a line saying so in the picker.
If an agency looks after your website, the picker also shows 🏢 <agency name> blocks — sections your agency saved for its clients. Tap one to add a copy to your page (your business name fills in); it is yours from then on, and nothing your agency later changes in its library touches your page. Only the agency can add to or remove from that group.
Not sure what a section can do? Its ⋯ menu has Ask Asha about this section — the chat opens with the section and the page named, and you type the question (more).
Two heroes are showing. If you bring back the design's hero while your slider is still on top, the section list shows a notice with two one-tap fixes: keep your slider (hides the design's hero) or keep the design's hero (removes your slider). Most stores keep one.
A worked example
Example · Rukhsar, a boutique in Lucknow on the SnapCart design
She wanted the Pulse-style slider and a festive feel without changing designs. In the section list she pressed Use my own banner slider as the hero, uploaded three 1600×600 Diwali banners from her designer plus 1080×1350 phone cuts, turned on Ready-made banners, set the change effect to Slide and auto-advance to 5 seconds. After Categories she added a Trust badges strip (COD · Easy returns · GST invoice) and set its Width to Full and Space to Compact. At the bottom she added a WhatsApp button block, hidden on computers. Total time: eleven minutes; nothing went live until she pressed Update Website.
Do this
- One hero at the top, three to five sections a customer actually scrolls to
- Ready-made banners + phone versions for anything with text in the image
- Full width for banners and bands; the page column for text
- Check the phone preview after adding or hiding anything
Not this
- Stacking a slider, a hero showcase and a promo banner back to back
- Leaving “Your headline here” placeholder slides on a live site
- Ten added sections nobody reaches
- Tiny wide banners on phones — add the phone version instead
Common questions
Why don't my design's sections have a Width control?
Their layout is the design. Hide one and add your own block in its place if you need a different width there.
A block I added shows nothing on the preview.
Some blocks need something to show first — Products needs products, Reviews rail needs approved reviews, Offers board needs live coupons, an Image block needs a photo. Until then the editor shows an amber line on the block, Not on your live site, followed by the reason (for example “there are no approved reviews yet”; a Combo Set names the picked products that have options such as weight or size). The block's row in the section list carries the same Not on your live site tag, and opening the row shows the reason. Your live website leaves the block out until it has something to show — visitors never see an empty or broken block.
Does adding sections slow my site?
No. Each block ships only what it needs, images come in four sizes, and heavy things (videos, maps) load only when tapped. The first banner of a slider is prioritised because it is your biggest picture.
Can I put sections on product pages?
Yes — the 🛍 Product pages tab has four spots (top, below the buy area, after the description, bottom) that repeat on every product page. See Customise your product pages.
I rearranged and now want the original order back.
Press ↺ Restore the design's original order at the top of the section list. Your added blocks stay where you put them.

Did this answer your question?
It takes one tap and it genuinely changes what we write next.
