In this guide

In-store pickup lets customers order online and collect from your shop — no delivery charge, no courier, no waiting. You control everything they see: your pickup point, opening hours, how fast orders are ready, collection-time choices, whether they can pay at the store, and the instructions they follow when they arrive. Works alongside delivery, or as your only option (pickup-only mode).

Who this is for

🥩

Fresh & local

Meat, bakery, dairy, sweets — customers reserve online, collect fresh.

🛍️

Local stores

Buyers order online, pay & collect in person — no courier cost for you.

📦

Heavy / fragile items

Furniture, electronics — skip shipping risk entirely.

☕

Pickup-only counters

Cafés and takeaway counters that don't deliver at all.

Set it up (2 minutes)

1

Open the Pickup page

From your website's sidebar under Delivery, tap Pickup — while pickup is off it shows there dimmed with an Off mark. The page is headed In-Store Pickup. Turn on “Let customers pick up from my store”.

2

Add your pickup point

Type your store address (required), and optionally a counter name, a phone number customers can tap-to-call, and a Google Maps link (open Maps → find your shop → Share → copy link) — customers get a “Get directions” button everywhere.

3

Set your pickup hours

Two ways: Set per day (Monday–Sunday open/close times with a Closed tick for your off day — “Copy Monday’s time to every day” fills the week in one tap; a day you never touch uses 10:00 am – 8:00 pm) or Just type it (“Mon–Sat, 10 AM – 9 PM”). Checkout then shows “Open today · 10 am – 8 pm” automatically.

4

Promise how fast it's ready

Pick a chip — 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, Same day, Next day — or type your own (“Order before 4 pm, collect the same evening”). A clear promise stops the “is it ready yet?” calls.

5

Add instructions (optional)

“Show your order number at the billing counter”, “Parking in front”, “Come to the side gate after 8 pm” — shown at checkout, on the order-placed screen, on their tracking page, and in the ready-for-pickup WhatsApp.

The live “What customers see at checkout” preview updates as you type — on a computer it sits beside the form, on a phone it sits under it — and what you see there is exactly the card your customer gets. Nothing is live until you press Save changes; an “unsaved changes” note stays on screen until you do.

Collection-time choices (optional)

Turn on “Let customers choose a collection time” and checkout adds a small picker: As soon as it’s ready (always the first choice), Today, Tomorrow… with time windows (like 5–6 pm) built from your pickup hours. Under How many days ahead can they book? pick Today only, 2, 3, 5 or 7 days; under How long is each time slot? pick anything from every 15 minutes to every 4 hours (1 hour unless you change it). The page lists the exact windows your customers will see today. Prefer your own windows? Type them in Or write your own time windows (“Morning 9–12”, “Evening 6–9”).

  • The chosen time shows on the order row (a Collect Today · 5–6 pm chip), the order page, and the customer’s tracking page.
  • Windows already past — and windows inside your prep time — are never offered for today.
  • Days you marked Closed don’t appear. It’s always optional for the customer — “As soon as it’s ready” is one tap.
  • Taking a phone order? The New Order form has the same collection-time picker for pickup orders.

Pay at store — or online only

By default, pickup customers can choose Pay at Store (cash/UPI at the counter — it’s the COD option relabeled; a dine-in table order follows its own “pay at the counter” switch instead). If no-shows waste your packed orders, turn Allow “Pay at store” OFF: pickup orders must then be paid online before they’re placed — our servers refuse a pay-later pickup order even if someone tampers with the page.

Turning Pay at store OFF only makes sense when you have an online payment method (a gateway or your UPI ID in Settings → Payments). The page warns you if you don’t.

What the customer experiences

  • Checkout: picks Pickup → the address fields disappear (their name and mobile number stay — every order needs them, so you can call about it; the “Who will receive the order?” choice and the alternate number go with the address — they are for delivery orders only); they see your pickup card — name, address, “Open today…”, how fast it’ll be ready, your instructions, Get-directions / Call buttons — and “🎉 You save ₹X in delivery charges” when delivery would have cost them.
  • Order placed: a green collection panel repeats everything + “Show your order number at the counter”.
  • Tracking page: the same collection card lives on their order-tracking page, with a big “✅ Ready! Show order SV-123 at the counter” once you mark it ready.
  • WhatsApp: marking the order Ready for Pickup sends the customer a WhatsApp only from your own WhatsApp number, when its Ready for pickup automation is switched on (it fills in your pickup location) — write your hours and any instructions into its layout. Without your own number, the customer sees your address, hours and instructions on the order screen and in Track Order.

Example · Sharma Sweets, Jaipur

A customer orders 1 kg kaju katli (₹1,100) for Diwali. Delivery would have been ₹60, so checkout shows You save ₹60 in delivery charges and the total stays ₹1,100 — no delivery charge, no COD fee. She picks Tomorrow · 5–6 pm and Pay at Store. Next afternoon the shop marks the order Ready for Pickup; she shows the order number at the counter, pays in cash, and the shop taps Delivered.

Running pickup orders

1

Pack it

Pickup orders show a Pickup chip on the Orders list (plus a Collect … chip with the collection time if one was chosen). In Filters, set Type to Pickup to see them together.

2

Mark Ready for Pickup

One tap on the order’s status — Track Order shows it ready with your address + instructions, and your own WhatsApp number tells the customer when its Ready for pickup message is on.

3

Hand over & mark Delivered

They show the order number; you tap Delivered. Loyalty points, invoices and reports work exactly like delivery orders.

Good to know

  • No delivery costs ever apply to pickup — no delivery charge, no COD fee, no minimum order value, no pincode checks.
  • “Pickup-only store (no delivery at all)” — the last switch on the Pickup page — removes delivery from checkout entirely, for counters that never ship.
  • Changed a pickup or delivery setting while someone was paying? Their payment still becomes an order — its timeline says the setting changed while they were paying, so you can settle it with the customer. Nothing already paid is ever lost.
  • Delivery-day features (zone delivery days, delivery scheduling) never ask pickup customers anything — they’re delivery-only.
  • More than one shop? On Stores & Branches, switch on Customers collect orders from a branch and tick Customers can collect orders here on each collection point — checkout then asks Collect from which branch? (needs pickup switched on here; a branch marked temporarily closed is left out).
  • Need to check a pickup order before you take it? In Shop confirms the order first choose The whole order and switch on Check store pickup orders too: pickup customers then send an order request, you confirm the items and say when it will be ready, and they pay at the shop or online after that.
  • Your saved changes go live on their own within a minute (published sites republish automatically).
