Cash on Delivery & Smart COD Charges

Native COD with per-product control — and a COD fee that's exactly as smart as you need.

Turn on Cash on Delivery with one switch and block it on the products where it doesn't make sense. Add an optional COD fee — flat, percent, or both, with minimum and maximum caps — and customers see the exact charge before they place the order.

How it works

What you actually do, step by step — most owners finish this from a phone.

1

Switch COD on

One toggle in Settings → Payments enables Cash on Delivery across your store.

2

Block it where it hurts

Mark individual products COD-blocked — fragile, high-value, or made-to-order items can stay prepaid-only while the rest of the store takes COD.

3

Set your COD fee (optional)

Charge a flat amount, a percentage, or both together, with a minimum and maximum cap — the checkout shows customers the exact fee live.

4

Collect on delivery

Deliver yourself and take cash, or ship through a connected courier — the COD amount to collect flows to the courier automatically.

Why it matters for your business

Sell to COD-first India

A large share of Indian online buyers still prefer cash on delivery — turning it on opens your store to them.

Cover your COD costs

Cash handling and return risk cost real money; a transparent COD fee puts that cost on the orders that create it.

Control per product

You decide exactly which products carry COD risk — no all-or-nothing choice.

No surprise at the door

The fee is shown at checkout and printed on the invoice, so the delivery amount never shocks the customer.

What's included

The honest, complete list — limits stated where they exist.

  • Fee models: flat ₹, percent of order, or fixed + percent combined, with min/max caps
  • Checkout shows the exact computed fee on the COD option before the customer commits
  • The COD fee appears as its own line on the GST invoice — invoice total always equals what the customer pays
  • Store-pickup orders automatically skip the COD fee
  • Per-product COD blocking, enforced server-side — it can't be bypassed by a clever browser
  • Ship via Shiprocket, Shipmozo, Delhivery, or NimbusPost and the exact collectible amount is passed to the courier
  • Worried about fake COD orders? Pair it with Partial COD prepayment

Common questions

How do I reduce fake or no-show COD orders?
Two levers: add a COD fee (filters casual orders), or switch on Partial COD so customers pay a slice online first — that small commitment removes most junk orders.
Can I offer COD only on cheap items?
Yes — block COD on specific products. High-value items can be prepaid-only while everyday items keep COD.
Who collects the cash when I use a courier?
The courier collects the exact amount (we pass it to them when you ship) and remits it to you on the courier's own COD settlement cycle.
